FOG AND SCENERY

We left our anchorage at Ebeltofthamna at 0400 in the morning, to catch a good weather window to make it up to north-west Spitsbergen.

The trip was about 40 nm (about 70 km) and most of it was in dense fog, so we missed most of the coastal scenery. Once the fog lifted though, what a landscape!

Fog is slowly lifting!

The ocean and coastal landscapes are slowly revealing themselves.

Nothing much more happened during the day, but given that the views were so spectacular, we thought we’d share some of the pictures from that day.

ANOTHER GALE

The forecast was also predicting a northeasterly gale later in the evening, so we were keen to find a safe anchorage that would protect us from strong winds.

We ended up anchoring in Kobbefjorden on the north-western side of Danskøya (near Smeerenburg), where we spent two days and two nights before moving on.
